Cooking Boiled Spaghetti Pasta Thermomix

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

Cooking boiled spaghetti in the Thermomix is super simple. There is no need to even be in the kitchen whilst it’s cooking!

I have to admit, the first time I saw stiff spaghetti sticking out the top of the TM lid and twirling around, I was sure the result would be a disaster. I probably would have even bet money on it! Fast forward a few years and this is my favourite way of cooking spaghetti, boiling the spaghetti in the Thermomix.

It is a “never fail” method! Simply boil the water, then add the pasta through the hole in the lid. Add the cooking time stated on the spaghetti packaging and then walk away.

Boiled Spaghetti Ingredients

I don’t use oil when I cook spaghetti, so there are literally only 3 ingredients.

  1. Water
  2. Salt (for flavour)
  3. Spaghetti

How long? Spaghetti Cooking Times

The cooking time will vary depending on a number of factors.

  • The thickness of the pasta.
  • What ingredients the spaghetti is made from
  • Even the brand of pasta can make a difference in the cooking times.

It’s always best to check the packaging for the manufacturer’s recommended cooking times. If you have stored your pasta without the packaging I have put together a handy guide to help you determine approximated times for the boiled spaghetti.

Once the water has boiled the spaghetti is added!

Draining the Cooked Pasta

It’s important not to allow the pasta to remain in the boiled water once the cooking time is completed. The pasta will continue to cook and become gluggy. Drain the pasta immediately. The easiest way to drain the pasta is by placing the Varoma dish in the sink and pouring the contents of the TM bowl into the Varoma.

Rince the pasta briefly and place a Thermoserver. At this point, you can toss through a little olive oil to prevent sticking if the sauce isn’t ready to add to the pasta.

How to Serve the Pasta

The simplest sauces are sometimes the best! Serving cooked spaghetti with a homemade Pesto sauce is an easy but delicious way to get a fresh-tasting meal on the table fast. For a very indulgent past dish, you have to try my Creamy Garlic Sauce! This is AMAZING with some garlic prawns added at the last minute for a Creamy Garlic Pasta. Although these would be my pick for indulgent restaurant quality pasta sauces if you wanted a lovely homely meal you could always try the Napoletana Sauce with the pasta served with some parmesan cheese and olives.

If you are feeling the pasta love you have to try my Thermomic Mac and Cheese! I promise you won’t regret it! Serve it with a healthy salad and you have a deliciously balanced meal.
